Luke 15:4-7

“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”

This painting brings to life the parable from Luke 15:4-7, capturing the essence of divine compassion and redemption.

The shepherd's face is alight with a serene joy, reflecting deep spiritual joy.  His eyes, filled with empathy and love, gaze directly at the sheep, conveying a powerful message of forgiveness and belonging. This intimate moment between the shepherd and the sheep serves as a poignant metaphor for the divine love and mercy that seeks and saves the lost, regardless of their wandering.

Through its rich symbolism and emotive imagery, the painting invites viewers to reflect on the profound themes of redemption, divine love, and the joy of salvation that resonate with the message of Luke 15:4-7. It is a visual hymn to the grace that seeks out the lost, offering them a way back to love and light.
